Frankie Valentine (UK)

DJ / Producer / Remixer

Music Style: Eclectic range of music genres

Frankie Valentine is a well known DJ and producer but information about him has been one of the best-kept secrets in the British music industry so far! As one of the pioneering club DJ's during the dance music revolution in the eighties, Frankie's love for new sounds quickly established him as one of the major British exponents of dance music. His talents were inevitably recognized abroad where he has spent much of his time DJ’ing and producing.

Frankie began his DJ career in the mid 70s in London lifting reggae sound system speaker boxes at the tender age of 13. After serving his apprenticeship as a box boy he then began to explore his musical tastes more in depth.

Some of his past residencies in London include: Ronnie Scotts in Soho, The Limelight, The Park in Kensington, The Rotary Club held at The Gardening Club - Covent Garden, Madame JoJo's in Soho, Right Area @ Plastic People and The End. He also held a residency abroad at the famous Tresor in Berlin. He has also supported many internationally known acts such as: Electribe 101, 808 State, Underground Resistance, Yoruba Jazz People, Bah Samba, Ultra Nate, Also Pocho and his Latin soul brothers.

In 1990 his first recording,” Tokyo Offshore Project" was released on Scien Records in Japan and since then, he has recorded on countless labels around the globe. Frankie has been known to take on the occasional remix, remixing artists such as Leroy Burgess, Blaze, The Revsionaries featuring Alexis P. Suter, Chari Chari, and Nicky Lawrence, To date Frankie has Recorded two Albums, Below The Radar in 2002 and next month we will see the release of his Second Album, “The world Of What”, both Releases are On the Austrian Record label Sunshine Enterprises.

The world of what is a soundtrack to the journey of music as it seeks out affinity. Across diasporas, despite language, the same whispers: wherever you are in time and space the rhythms remain the same. The melodies of this world of what call back along electronic ancestral lines, understanding is an infinite back catalogue of drum-skinned syllables, music is its indestructible constant in an equilibrium increasingly off balance. The world of what is a two pence coin for your mind’s stylus.
In the world of what African melancholy folds its metre into the sounds of Bahia, from this trans-continental tectonics, a bat signal in the shape of west London appears, dreams not so much broken as multiplied.  The world of what is a cultural cross-pollination; plane tickets from Istanbul, Vienna and Rio fall like seeds from a wax packed record box. The further the distance travelled, the greater the realisation that distance don’t mean shit; the connections become more defined, the music is ethereal.
There is gravity in the depression of keys, in the air from horns and spit from breath-it stops us falling. Time and space are a fiction; a whole Byzantine orchestra jostles for room and mic time in the studios of the future.  When the revolutions begin - jazz is everywhere; alive in the humidity, the electrical currents of samplers, the air between feet and the sandy dancefloor.
The world of what is sound measured in beats per minute - a 33 rpm pulse greeting from Greencoat mansions to the expanding vibrational cosmos that’s disappearing but forever contactable.  (Magus)
