Daniel Anthony
DJ/Presenter
Music Style: Soulful / Funky
/ Deep / Tech / Tribal / to Dirty, Electro House.
DANIEL ANTHONY is an up
and coming London based House DJ/Presenter. Daniel has an
array of musical influences from the likes Bob Marley, Chaka
Khan, Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, LL Cool J, The Sugar
Hill Gang, Tracey Chapman, David Bowie, R.E.M too Beethoven
and Tchicovski to name but a few. This definitely reflects
itself in his style and music selection.
Daniel first turned his hand to D.J`ing in
1993. it was during this time, that he first experienced playing
in front of a crowd. Once he had a taste of this, he was hooked.
In 1998, Daniel moved away from the (by now) UK Garage scene,
which he felt had lost some of its key “House”
elements and no longer reflected him musically or socially.
Since then he has focused his energy in to House music.
Along with having organised a couple
of successful club nights, DANIEL ANTHONY went on
to host a show on the capital’s longest running and
most established underground House music station, UnknownFM.
Due to his diversity and smooth and sultry style (both on
the mic and the decks), Daniel was rapidly promoted to playing
Monday to Friday, 8AM-10AM (GMT), supplying a breakfast show
to listeners, not just from London but the whole world via
the Internet. After a year at Unknown, Daniel was keen to
see how he could reach further, toward his goals. It was then
he decided to up the ante by joining London’s most well
known House music station, House 88.6FM.
After a short spell there, Daniel soon realised that, as an
up-and-coming DJ, you need exposure. HouseFM at time, was
not reaching far enough into London and the surrounding counties.
This is when Daniel made his most recent move to London’s
most widely received House music station, Passion 91.8FM.
Since becoming a radio DJ, DANIEL
ANTHONY’S career has gone from strength to strength,
guesting and securing residencies all over London. His most
recent adventures took him to the picturesque village of Chinnteche,
in Malawi, south-central Africa, to play alongside top acts
such as DJ Yoda and Felix B, of Basement Jaxx, for the Lake
of Stars festival. His set went down so well, that he has
been invited to guest at Liverpool’s most successful
club night, Chibuku Shake Shake.
“Music is about enjoyment,
at the end of the day and I always try to have fun behind
the decks! I’m definitely not one of these “static”
DJ’s, when I’m mixing. I think reading the crowd
and interacting with them is vital.” DA
DANIEL ANTHONY is most definitely
an emerging talent and one to watch out for.
Some admired artists within the House
scene include: Booka Shade, Miguel Migs, Mark Farina,
Kerri Chandler, Grant Nelson, Blaze, Masters at Work, Reel
People, DJ T, Bob Sinclar, DJ Deep and Ben Watt.
You can listen to DANIEL ANTHONY
live on PASSION 91.8FM, 20:00-22:00 (GMT), every
